Vision Urbana is part of the Feeding America Network in NYC responding to the growing needs of food security for thousands of NYCHA seniors, families and migrants weekly here on the Lower East Side.
Thank you City Harvest for hosting the first Feeding America Northeast Regional Summit today! Vision Urbana with one of our community partners from NYCHA provided feedback and recommendations towards policy changes to the network to best support pantries including capacity funding support for pantries who are delivering food directly to the residents public housing developments. Vision Urbana has championed this food security model throughout the Lower East Side over the last 4 years, with food sourced from many foodbanks present in the room today which include Food Bank For New York City and United Way of New York City.
We look forward to the outcomes following this productive and important gathering that centered around creative solutions for addressing food insecurities.
